As mentioned in the last thread you started about carpet costs, you could be anywhere from $2/sf to $5+/sf depending on what you want quality-wise.
Acrylic paint is water-based, which is what you want- commonly called latex, as opposed to alkyd (oil-based) paint. The cost to paint the interior of a home will vary based on the level of prep work required, the quality of the job you're looking for, and what's in the way to paint around. You can find uninsured hacks on Craigslist (not recommended) who will throw some paint on the walls for $100/room, but for a decent quality job, you should plan on anywhere from $250-400/room.
ProSource - $1 square foot - builder's grade or slightly better, cheap install with one of their installers.
You can paint like a pro. No need to prime unless you are going from very bright color. The key to a good paint job is the quality of the paint. Unless walls are in bad shape then pay someone for the spackling or repair. Use home depot or walmart paint then expect a terrible finish. Using nothing below Sherwin Williams Super Paint or Benny Moore.
I always prime no matter what. It will give a more even appearance. I agree about the paint though. I always use Benjamin Moore. It's pricey but it puts that Behr Home Depot krap to shame.

Some people say that but it depends on the condition of the wall and the color change. That white builders paint on new contruction serves as a decent primer.
I am planning to buy a new home which might require a carpet overhaul as well as painting the whole house.
I have heard the average cost of carpetting is approx $3.25 (labor & material)....is that a true estimation?
Can you tell me what will be the cost of painting? What type of color should be used - water based or acrylic?
regards
I would think that petting your car would be free (just joking on the typo). I paid $4.89 sf for high grade Mohawk carpet installed. Bob is about right with the $250-$400 per room painting estimate to hire out. We do our own painting though, and always use Benjamin Moore it's the easiest paint to work with, there is a discount outlet near my house where I can get it for about $25 per gallon.
Dutch Boy is good too.........just like Butter!
Sometimes you can find a handyman in need of a job for about 100 per room to paint.
We have on occasion.
