My wife and I are strongly considering moving to Florham Park. I’ve reviewed school rankings and am surprised that their elementary schools aren’t ranked higher. Their test scores are more on par with Newark than neighboring towns. I know they share a HS with East Hanover, but we’d likely send our son to Seton Hall Prep anyway.
Are these rankings valid? How can such an affluent town have such low rankings?

Rich people send their rich kids to private school.

Where are you seeing the schools are on par with Newark?? Both Niche & Great Schools (notoriously incorrect) score them 7+ and A-B.

I'm not sure that I would consider Florham Park to be an "affluent" town. It has always seemed more middle to upper middle class.

What are you looking at? Just curious

Niche has the elementary schools at A- and the other one at a B

Yesterday I saw one of their schools have proficiency sores of 40% and 17%. I will try to find the link. I would put Florham Park in the status as Basking Ridge, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, etc. I think the fact that it is closer to Madison and Chatham it has experienced a spillover effect for family looking for a town with lower taxes.

It looks like those other towns have better ranked school systems.

That seems highly unlikely. Definitely verify that link. Honestly all the schools in this area are very good. Just find a home and a neighborhood vibe you like and go for it. Each town has a different vibe but you'll get a great education in any of them.

I have no idea what you’re talking about with those numbers.

I can’t find the elementary schools right now but the middle school has 63/74% proficient in math/LA and is in the top 20% of schools in NJ

You sound like you have an agenda of some sort.

Agenda? I’m making an offer on a property in Florham Park. Far from an agenda.

This is the site I was referring to:

https://www.niche.com/k12/d/hanover-...l-district-nj/

It was the HS not elementary so my mistake. Still terrible scores

Those scores look wrong compared to the rest of the data. Use some critical thinking on this one. I wouldn't be worried.
