Looking for housing advice. I want to live in the most boring, safest, whitest community I can near Mendham.

OP didn't specify "not in mendham" so mendham itself, twp or boro, does work just fine. But so does Chester, twp or boro. Have fun. Say hi to the governor for me if you ever run into him. Let him know he's doing a FABULOUS job as his buddy The Conald would say

From Mendham, head due east. Stop when you get to Irvington. The street lines are white and it's quite safe (at least for dealing drugs on the street). I also hear it's popular with trolls.

Twp = Township

Boro = Borough

It just designates the type of local government.
