Scotch Plains?? (Westfield, Fanwood: school district, live in, bus)

Hi All,
My husband and I are thinking of moving to Scotch Plains from Manhattan. We don't have kids but we will in the next 2-3 years. We both work in Manhattan. If you live or know anyone who does in Scotch Plains, what is the best way to get to midtown?

Any good/bad advice regarding Scotch Plains?

All of Scotch Plains is nice and the school district is well-regarded. Depending on where you live in Scotch Plains, you will use either the Fanwood or Westfield commuter train stop to get to midtown Manhattan. There is also a bus that runs along North Avenue that takes you into the city. Your morning commute will be about an hour.
