My niece will be based out of the Newark area and we are having a hard time finding a place for her to live that is reasonably priced and safe. We are from Michigan and know very little about the area. She needs a place where street parking isn't the only option. A friend suggested North Ironbound, but all I can find are expensive apartments with street parking. Since she may be coming in very late or leaving very early, she wants parking right where she lives. Any suggestions on safe neighborhoods with less than a 20 minute commute in traffic and where she might be able to locate roommates? The ladies she was going to room with from training are no longer an option.

What's the budget?
Less than 20 minutes does not get you very far from the airport. North Ironbound or Harrison might be the best bets. Buildings with parking will be pretty expensive. With enough roommates you might make it work, again depending on what the budget is.

Clark, NJ is 16 min away from the airport. Has plenty of apartments with parking. It's mostly white, blue color workers in those apartments.

She needs roommates. Between $1,000 - $1,500 is what is reasonable to spend on a 1 bedroom around here. Maybe one can find a studio for 950.

for $500 look at Roomate wanted on Craigslist. check location on the map for proximity to the airport. Pray that roomate is not a psycho.

Where is the family? Can she commute, or will she mostly be on reserve?

There are CrashPad websites, for FA's she should look into.

Family is in Michigan so that's not an option. She will have roommates probably 4 total in the apartment. Comments "like miracles do happen" are not conducive to helping someone and waste both my time and yours.

I would try North Elizabeth , two flight attendants lived across from me when I lived there . Pretty safe area and close to everything .
