I am doing research into Manchester- trying to see if it's worth considering as a relocation option. I was delighted to see that there are affordable homes there...but is it true that the township is isolated, dominated by senior citizens, overrun with teens high on weed and close to a polluted lake? These are all things I've extracted from the web.(BTW isolation and seniors are NOT negatives in my opinion)

What are the schools like? What are race relations like? Does anyone know if there are public transportation links nearby into Jersey City/NYC?

Many Thanks,
CC

If you're talking about public transportation for daily commuting, you're looking at a 2-hour commute. My mother lives in Manchester in one of the adult communities, and while it's nice and quiet for her and close to shopping in Toms River, close to Seaside, etc., I wouldn't consider it if you're working in JC or NYC.

No race riots in Mancaster with 93.90% white. Plus crime is rated a 1 on a scale of 1-10 compared to an 8 for Newark, NJ

We were looking at a 55+ down there until we found something we liked better in Waretown.

Waretown is nice, Only 1 adult community. The Bay is nice and so is the community lake
west of route 9. Has an old fashion slide into the lake. I use to take my kids there. Waretown is getting its own shop rite too. Waretown now has an exit/ enterance to the pkway both North and south.

We used to live in Manchester, but that was back in the late 1980's. The water issue you heard about affected Pine Lake Park, a neighborhood located off Route 70. I understand the situation was taken care of, but at the time it caused great concern among the citizenship. They also had an issue with shortages in the town coffers in the early 1990's. Something about all this money was missing and then the mayor was missing too. (Can't remember all the details.) Long story short, the tax rate basically doubled after that. Aside from that, we enjoyed living there for about 3 years before we relocated out of state.

There are many places in this state that are a much better choice than Manchester.
It is way off the beaten path. Not accessible from the TP and a bit of a drive from the GSP. THere are a lot of Seniors Citizens there, so forget about ever getting a school budget passed.

Would you say this is a safe area for people to live without fear of various forms of crime. Looking for residents comments, aside from also viewing statistics myself

Manchester is very safe in regard to crime.

Car accidents are another story as it's very heavy seniors populated.
