Hi All,

I have been out of the state for a number of years so when I heard this stat I was a bit surprised. Only 12% of the tolls collected goes to road maintenance? I thought the ratio would be maybe 50/50 but 88/12 is pathetic. Can anyone confirm this? If true, what's everyones opinion?

WHere did you get this stat from?
Also, 12% of the total amount of tolls collected is still a lot of money.
The last time that I actually knew the amount of revenue that the Turnpike was bringing in on a daily basis was back in the 90's, when they were bringing in $1,000,000 per day. This would come to about $40-45 million per year to maintain the roads...much better than any tax would be able to do...and this 12% figure that you have heard would be WITHOUT the salary of the road crews (all shifts), supplies, trucks, trucks maintenance and anything else that you want to add on.
