Hello. I am coming from Maine and staying at the Days Inn in Ridgefield. I have a few questions.
1. Is this hotel decent and safe?
2. We will be going in to NYC and I'm trying to decide the best way to get there. There will be 5 of us, with one being a 7 year old. I've considered a bus but then I've seen some parking garages that are $20-$30/day, which would be reasonable with 5 people. Is this my best option? Does anyone know of a safe parking garage that is outside of the city but close to the subway? I know this question was asked in 2008 but I'm sure a lot has changed.
3. If we do drive, about how long would it take? We will be there mid-week.
Driving into the city with 5 people isn't a terrible an idea if you can avoid the commuting times. Harrison PATH station would be my second choice though it isn't especially convenient to Ridgefield. Secaucus Junction parking is incredibly expensive and the train isn't cheap either, so a distant third.
there's an app for smartphones called Best Parking. if you're not adverse to driving in the city (which really isn't as bad as people think), then you can easily use the app to save a fortune on parking. with 5 people, I would definitely drive in. Otherwise, I'd park at Secaucus station and take a New Jersey Transit train or I would park at Harrison Ave. Path Station

Thank you!
For 4 adults and 1 child, drive in. It will be cheaper. To give you an idea of the NJ Transit fares, it is is $20 for one adult roundtrip from Metropark.
Besides which, unless you were going into NYC on a weekend, you'll be hard pressed to find a parking spot in the commuter lots.

I don't think THAT is possible and found this question curious. The subway doesn't go outside of the city.
Some people on here gave you some good options, though
