Don't you love this euphemism?

Somebody committed suicide using the train early this morning. Closed down the NJCL for hours.

I wasn't aware that they use this euphemism when somebody jumps in front of a train.
Interesting use of words...

Entering railroad property without permission is trespassing.

Yeah, so those guys in the plane on 9/11 were trespassing in the WTC?

The 9/11 hijackers committed acts of assault, hijacking, terrorism, mass murder, destruction of public and private property, and, sure, trespassing as well. Not sure what one has to do with the other though

You seemed to be defending "trespassing" as an accurate and reasonable description of a train suicide.

Actually I was making the point that accessing railroad property without permission no matter the purpose is always trespassing even though most people don't think it is. The railroad typically owns or controls 10' out from the centerline of the ROW in each direction and walking along or crossing that property without authorization is trespassing. Just sayin...

nobody is saying the person didn't trespass.

They don't want to admit "We ran over a poor innocent two-legged creature with our huge dangerous multi-ton steel train that has a stopping distance measured in thousands of feet and no steering to speak of." The monsters.

I'm not sure if the whole "tresspasser fatality" thing is to ward off lawsuits or to make the engineer feel better. Really, if you're going to commit suicide, you should use a cop, not a train. At least they enjoy it.
