I am considering on renting a townhome in the North Brunswick section while working in NY. I am looking for a kid friendly community with accessible public transportation to NYC ( although I do drive, dont want to drive all of the time). Can anyone tell me if this is a nice area? Any suggestions on good townhomes communities in this area? Also is it very expensive to live in this area? any shopping areas close by? any info would be helpful.
Buses to NYC run up and down both Rt 1 and Rt 27 during am and pm rush. In addition you have the Jersey Avenue NJTransit Train Station with semi express service to NYC on weekdays.
There are townhomes up and down rt 1, 27 and 130. There are a zillion threads discussing them, just search North Brunswick
Thanks for your response. I was looking at a few townhomes in particular, Riverbend townhomes which i fell in love with. Can you tell me what is the average salary in this area? Also is this area diverse and safe
Very diverse community, decent school system, check the demographics on city data for the average salary, although I would guess that it's not quite accurate. Lots of stores, restaurants, parks, community activities, doctors offices etc. You wouldn't have to drive far for anything. There's even a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods near Plainsboro, South Brunswick, Princeton area. Bus or train from North Brunswick, East Brunswick, or New Brunswick~East Brunswick was one of the original NYC bedroom communities in the late 50's and it's just expanded from there to include many of the surrounding towns. Sensibly safe for high density living.
