Can anyone suggest any venues to host a party in the surban Essex county area (ex. Montclair, West Orange, Bloomfield)(New Jersey) for about 100 people. I am looking to bring my own food. I am going to do a Hollywood/nigh club theme for my daughter's 16th birthday in November 2013.

If there is a place with nice disco lights that would be ideal. If not I'll rent lights.

My budget is 700.00-800.00.

I'm not looking at the places that are per person. I've checked most of them out in our area.

Thanks all.

VFW, American Legion and Knights of Columbus halls would be a great place to start. Don't forget to add in the clean-up fee in addition to the hall rental fee. Each hall has different guidelines. They are always having weddings, anniversary and birthday parties at these halls. Make sure to book early.

Thanks for your post. I've checked out that in our town they do not rent for 16th birthday. I've checked in the next town and it was 1200.00 & it was way too big. You could fit 200-300 people in the hall, and it was just too open. The carpet looked like it was from the 90's with flowers.

I know someone who did a wedding at the Women's Club of Glen Ridge (not sure if that's the exact name). They would probably do any kind of party.

Wow, I wonder if the hall you checked with has concerns about liability with teenagers. Well, be prepared to make some compromises. Having 100 guests with your budget may be challenging to do.

Yes the hall does not want to do 16th birthday parties. It was 800, and it had nice new hardwood floors, and it was close to home.

For the past 2 years my daughters birthday has fell in the time frame of the snow storm of 2011 and hurricane Sandy of 2012. He birthday is a couple of days after Halloween. So I do not want to go too far from home.

My budget is only for the venue not for the whole party. If I find a nice place and it is 1000-1100 I will pay that price. The place that I was talking about was a little out dated for what we are looking for, and it was way too big.

I found a place in Livingston The Suite Ppot (behind Rt 10 where the Old Navy store once was) that is very nice for 900 with the DJ included, but its a little tight and I want to rent a photo booth.
