Besides the obvious of why is this on the NJ forum...
If you actually read the second article posted, once you get beyond the sensationalized bits in the first couple of paragraphs and into the meat of the story, you realize it's not as shocking or crazy as it sounds and was basically resolved before the detectives even left the restaurant...
Plain clothes detectives eating in Denny's with guns...
Customer sees the guns and complains to a "manager" (aka the guy whose worked at Denny's for 6 months)...
"Manager" confronts detectives who explain they are on-duty police...
"Manager" says the store has a "policy" that only uniformed officers may carry in the restaurant...
Detectives argue and then decide to leave...
Actual manager of the store comes over, explains the "manager" was mistaken and that the detectives are more then welcome to stay...
Detectives decide they are "unwelcomed" and decide to leave...
Local police department decides to "protest" against the Denny's by banning officers from eating there.
Misunderstanding that was immediately recitified has now turned into sensationalist news story, but hey a bunch of people in NJ are now talking about a misunderstanding at a Denny's in Belleville, IL. Must be a slow day in the world.
I have a few NYPD , NewarkPD friends and I know a few police chiefs of Sleepy Hallow and New London.... Cops are humans too and can be *******s , and think their above the law...so lets not worship them like their saints... I'm not Anti-Cop or Anti-Gun....why on earth would you say that? I know alot of gun owners , even some Autistic gun owners who farm or own Vineyards..... I honestly don't really care about the whole gun control issue.... Why is this in the New Jersey forum?
i understand the logic and disagree with it. i should have the right to protect myself just as a cop should.
Agreed. Some states allow it for those who put themselves through the training. I doubt we'll be seeing this come to NJ any time soon.
