I'm a single woman, govt. job, moving to Trenton. Would anyone care to share the safest areas in Trenton to live? I'll be renting an apartment or a duplex.
Here's what I've heard, maybe someone can yay or nay this info.
North: I've been told to stay clear of Brunswick, 5 points and Battle Monument but Top Road is good.
East: Ewing Hamilton (is that one place or two?) is good, with lots of families. Wilbur Section is bad.
South: Chambersburg (which I've also seen listed in the East ward)
West: So far I haven't heard anything bad about this area.
Central: Mill hill is ok but stay away from North 25
I'd appreciate any help you care to offer. Mainly looking for safety. Oh, and pets. Is it a hassle finding a place with a medium sized dog?
Do you have to live in Trenton? If not, you'd be better off looking in nearby Hamilton, Lawrence or Ewing. More rental options, safer and much better schools.
The further away from the Trenton borders the better.
I would avoid Trenton altogether, but if you have to live in Trenton proper I would go with Mill Hill (the most aesthetically pleasing). Ewing, Lawrence, and Hamilton are separate bordering munies that contain Trenton's urban areas. All are safer than Trenton, and would be acceptable alternatives.
are you getting a state job? if not you can live over the bridge in bucks county. lots of nice places to live in langhorne, yardley, etc. there is a fairly new condo building in DT trenton called the broad st bank building, might work for you if you need to live in trenton. but otherwise, i would avoid it. its just not safe these days. less cops = less protection. too many savage gang bangers in this town.

There was a recent thread about the Broad Street Bank Building.
So are there any diverse, safe cities/townships in central New Jersey???
To add to Lucario's list-
East Windsor, Monroe, Robbinsville, Cranbury, Jamesburg, Lambertville, Pennington, Bordentown............
