Can you guys please give me any info on public transportation from South Brunswick/Princeton area to NYC (Port Authority or Penn Station). Preferably via a bus route, but the train is fine too. THANKS!!!

go to suburbantransit.com to see the schedules. There are 2 bus routes that go to NYC from SB. The local bus that has the Princeton route and the express bus (Hightstown bus route?) where the last stop is Park & Ride close to NJ tpke 8-A which is 45 - 1 hr depending on traffic. You can also take the train from Princeton Junction or Hamilton.

Park and ride on Rt 130 by Jamesburg - I think this is your best option

if you are looking for south brunswick, you can drive to jersey avenue (new brunswick) to take train to NYC. you are going to opposite direction by driving to princeton junction unless you live very close to there. as vnjpag said, there are two major bus route you can take to new york, one at 8A, serving dayton and monmouth junction area, and one from princeton to NYC, serving kendall park and kingston area.

If you're planning on parking at the Princeton Junction train station, think again. There's rarely anything available and the regular parking permit waiting list is several years long.

lin67,

We are looking in Monroe and trying to get a handle on the commute...My husband needs to get to Jersey City, and I need to get to the city - which seems easy from the Applegarth Park & Ride. Two questions - How much is to park at a park & ride or where can I find out? Do you know if there's available parking spaces at the Jersey Ave train station? that seems it would be the easiest to Jersey City outside of driving. Thanks!

for jersey ave parking, you need to ask New Brunswick Parking Authority (googling it and you will find contact info). the availability varies, it took one or two months 3 year ago and it could take longer now. sorry i don't know anything about applegarth park and ride. but i do know some people in monroe driving to 8A (the same as applegarth?) and take a ride there.

Jersey Ave parking permit waiting list is currently 12-15 months, and the daily parking is $5.35 and definitely fills up in the 8-9 am hour.

Commuter parking in Middlesex county is an absolute joke

Default Are there plans for a NJ transit train station at South Brunswick...

A friend was telling me that there is a proposal for that, but could not find any on the internet.
