I have ditched Rahway...Can someone give me input and ideas on Marlboro? I won't mind the commute as long as the school system is good. I hear there are some rural areas, which is very interesting for this CITY girl...

Thanks!

I like Marlboro. I worked there for a while. It is quiet and peaceful. The neighborhoods are respectable. I wouldn't call it rural though; I would call it suburban. Unless they have torn it down, there is an old, shut down psychiatric hospital with tunnels underneath. ~spooky~

I'm quite familiar with Marlboro. Schools are some of the best in the state. There is a huge NY population-I'm sure you'd feel at home in that regard. It is also outrageously expensive. If you were looking at Rahway home prices, you're going to have sticker shock.

You cannot even imagine the difference between the two towns. Marlboro is suburban, as Christina said, but there are still nice, rural feeling areas. Those would be the most expensive.

Suburban hell at it's finest. Certainly better than Rahway, though.

There is no way that I can EVER feel sticker shock. Did anyone notice that I live in Staten Island. WE pay astronomical prices to live in houses that are semi detached...hello!

I just meant sticker shock in comparison to Rahway.
Believe me, I know how expensive Staten Island is.

Send me a pm. I can help. I have a best friend in SI, so I totally understand what you are getting for the money. Are you thinking about making the move to NJ?

The hospital has been shut down for some time. It is overgrown now and still a debate of what is going to come of it. Marlboro is a nice town however you can do better by you money if you look in bordering towns. I will not point you in any direction, you'll need to do your homework and ask questions.

I currently live in Monroe 5 min from Marlboro. I moved here 1 year ago from Staten Island. I'm sure you know about the taxes here. Marlboro is in Monmouth County and Monroe is in Middlesex county, and Monroe has some of the lowest taxes, well there still high, but lower than other counties. Schools are great. I live 4 miles from the NJ turnpike exit 8a. I also work for a national builder and sell estate style homes. I don't want to solicit on the forum. But what we are selling in the 700's you cant touch in S.I for less than 1.1. Send me a pm if you want more info
