Usually it is Verizon in this area, but nowadays there are also low cost or even free VOIP providers. Other people get landline phone from their cable service. These days landline phone tends to be the least used service in my opinion.
I currently live in Edison and use Verizon DSL and landline and I have to say the service is horrible. i get static on the line and the DSL is slow and cuts out periodically. Verizon went as far as replacing the phone lines along the entire block and while the service improved it is still horrible. I originally signed on with Verizon with the promise that Fios was coming soon. It is now almost 2 years later and Fios is nowhere in sight. I am having Optimum Online cable modem and land line installed this Friday and have heard good things about their internet service. The problem with Verizon in Edison is that the phone lines are old and many areas have shorted cables. Verizon is aware of this issue but they do not want to spend the money to repair the problems. It took a year of complaining to get the lines on my block replaced and the service still sucked. I would avoid Verizon in Edison until they can offer Fios.
Is this $57.00 for Verizon?
Yes it is, although we use the landline so little it's almost unneccessary. Thinking of dropping it and signing up for the highest speed of Verizon DSL, I have the medium one.
Can you let me know the details for long distance..i mean about pioneer..
Since I already have highspeed internet and Cable through Cablevision it only make sense to go with their VOIP as well. $35.95 (-$15 for having all three services) = $19.95. Unlimited long distance in NA. For an additional $20/month you get 500 minutes (.04/min with no connection fees) of international calling anywhere in the world.
We got rid of our land line about 10 years ago because we both had mobile phones and were never home. When we moved into our house 4 years ago, the Cablevision rep who connected our service told us about the VOIP. We use it mostly to keep in touch with family overseas and in case of an emergency with my MIL and son home all day. I have never had static on the line. I have never had dropped calls. In 4 years we had to have a tech come out once and Iv'e called in maybe 6 times because our service was out. It was usually back up again in a few hours. I had to replace the modem once.
Overall, for $20/month I'm very happy with the service.
