I find it interesting seeing the pics of the Lumberyard, which is the TOD you are refering to and then the old neighborhood around the station, which far predates the building of the Speedline, though there have been tracks there forever that were just elevated when the Speedline was built. The older neighborhood has a lot of character, even the garden style row homes seem more alive and vibrant compared to the starkness of the Lumberyard development. I know which houses I'd rather live in...
GOAT, just so you know, the Lumberyard is not in the plan for TOD. It predated the "new" plan. The TOD village was supposed to be built around the empty, machine filled lots adjacent to the station but as the Lumberyard went bankrupt, any faith or belief in a new system of "shops and condos" is out of the question. It's a shame because the plan looked nice.

Interesting. So many people refer to the Lumberyard as a "TOD", that I always assumed that was Collingswoods TOD development. Regardless, if I was a commuter I'd much rather live in one of the older neighborhoods a block or so away then in a condo on top of the tracks. Chances are the house would cost me less too, lol.
The Lumeryard was the original attempt to get the town up and running. Somewhere along the last four years a TOD model was drawn up and they were looking for bids. As far as I know, PATCO backed out and Collingswood was in deep doo doo with the Lumberyard by that point. With the short sitedness in the borough hall I could not imagine what they would have even tried to put in there? Possibly the usual...dry cleaner, nail salon and the ever popular Italian eatery...no bar or pub is on the horizon. So sayeth King Maley.
