There are quite a few hiking groups out there, but I was interested in starting one for people in their 20s. I am hoping to meet new people and increase interest in those around my age. Eventually, I would like to branch out to other related activities such as snow shoeing, kayaking, zip lining, etc.

I am also trying to make sure that this group stays beginner friendly. I continue to build up to more challenging hikes, but I still enjoy introducing my friends to easier hikes.

I was hoping to start off with Mt. Major this weekend at 9:30am on Saturday. If anyone would be interested in this hike, or future hikes, please send me a PM. Please just send along a brief hello, what type of experience you have hiking (none is okay!), and a link to Facebook if you choose for making it easy to keep in touch and send out events.

I'm not sure how many other 20s are in these forums, but I hope to hear from others!

You may want to look into making a meetup group. Better way to organize than on here.

Always great seeing other people my age wanting to do this sort of thing, it's hard to find other's in their 20's that enjoy this type of thing. I'm 24 by the way.

I've noticed that in general folks in their 50s+ tend to be a lot more friendly and engaging in random conversations with strangers. For whatever reason younger folks are a lot more reserved.

That said, sites like Meetup and other organized activities go a long way in breaking that and bringing new folks together.

I grew up in New Hampshire (am 22 now) so I will say that our generation is definitely much more reserved than the 40+ people in NH. But if there is a way to break the ice, after a few meetups I think we are good-hearted people

Agree completely! This is also a generic observation of mine...not limited to NH by any means (actually geography doesn't seem to matter at all).
