I just didn't think I could take the summer heat of the Laughlin-BHC area.

So am sorry, but I can't give you a report.

I still plan to visit Laughlin in the cooler months - but just couldn't convince myself to live there. Just too hot for me.
Hi Low Roller. Glad to hear things are better now. We are waiting for the cooler weather to return to Laughlin/BHC area too.

Well, I know how rep Zonababe but have a lousy sense of direction. Been a while since I have been to Laughlin, when I've stayed there it has been the Colorado Belle. Ten hours from my house.

I used to live in Vegas, then moved to Florida... talk about culture shock! I now live in an area made up primarily of seniors and have absolutely NO social life. Being still "working age," I have tried to move to the Laughlin/Bullhead area several times to work at the casinos (had 2 job offers), but the sale of my house didn't go through, so here I am still in Florida. I LOVE Laughlin... and hope to live there some day. Yes, the summers are HOT. I was there in late July-early August; drove a small rental car from Vegas and thought the a/c was not working right as the car felt warm. I arrived at the Colorado Belle parking lot, opened the car door, and was blasted with air that felt as though it came from an open oven! But in a few hours of lounging outside, I acclimated and actually loved the heat! Walked up and down the boardwalk in the evening... felt great! Much preferable over the hot and HUMID Florida heat that drains the strength right out of you. I love entertainment and Laughlin has some good shows (if you ever see the Edwards Twins advertised, see their show... excellent impersonators!!!). I have found overall the food to be good, the rooms nice, the river is wonderful and clean and sapphire blue, the dry air is a wonderful thing for people with mold allergies (like myself), jobs seem to be available as casinos are always hiring, and just love the small town atmosphere with the big town fun! And for serious entertainment (Barry Manilow, Cher, Bette Midler, Danny Gans, etc.), you are only about an hour and a half from Vegas. Hope to visit again this spring and look at some land for future investment (on AZ side... NV land costs a bundle so unless I hit a BIG jackpot on a progressive slot machine, I'm having to stick to AZ land deals). Viva Laughlin!!!

YOU DO NOT LIKE DRY CLIMATE,Ok.YOU WANT SNOW AND RAIN.....MEANING SUNSHINE AND BLUE SKIES ARE NOT YOUR,PROVERBIAL CUP OF TEA.
WHY NOT MOVE TO PITTSBURGH,PA?
53 sunny days a year
rains most days
VERY DAMP<<HUMID
295 days a year of wall to wall dark
clouds that stay.
THAT IS WHY ARIZONA IS MY HOME.

Default Pittsburgh vs. Laughlin

WOW.... now there's quite a comparison! Let's see... I grew up in Pittsburgh and have visited Laughlin a lot and lived in Las Vegas. So.... here' the run-down in my score book:

Laughlin.... Good: HOT, dry, sunny, clean river water, some good entertainment, cheap buffets, looser slots (compared to Vegas or Pittsburgh), sports books, boardwalk, mountain views, fun without the big city crowd and traffic.
Bad: Everything outside the Casino Dr. area is typical brown, dead, dull looking (but then hey, it is a desert climate!), high cost of housing and fuel, motorcycle conventions and NOISE, no residential areas with acreage, have to drive to Bullhead City to get to Wally World, Home Depot, most shops, hospitals, and other services as Laughlin is pretty limited, HOT (if that bothers you), windy and dusty at times, entertainment usually not as top notch as Vegas.

Pittsburgh..... Good: STEELERS football!!!!! Ugh..... did I mention the Pittsburgh Steelers.... um.... hmmmm.... there are some nice areas with historical significance, summers can bring some nice warm weather but not for long, Primanti Brothers sandwiches, pierogies, kielbassa (pronounced kill-boss-ee in Pittsburghese), oh yeah... Pittsburghese (yinz guys no what'm sayin, k?), did I mention the Steelers?
Bad: Dirty... litter everywhere, smelly especially the closer you get to downtown (aka Duntun), HIGH property taxes, hills that become ski slopes on which you must drive during the winter, cold, damp weather that will make your bones split in half and lungs freeze into Popsicles (well, at least it feels that way), gloomy much of the time with clouds and grayness that seems to seep into your pores, University of Pittsburgh OWNS the healthcare community which is sad, the Rooneys control the city, if you wear a Cleveland Browns t-shirt, you will be accosted, locked in a footlocker and thrown off the Mon Wharf after dark... it's tradition.

SUMMARY: I would rather live in Laughlin than Pittsburgh. But then I prefer my "classic" 1991 Dodge Shadow ES convertible over a new Mustang convertible. Hey... that's just me. The best answer IMHO... go to Laughlin... go to a good sports book... bet on the Steelers to WIN... wear your Steeler wear and swing your Terrible Towel with the rest of the fans in the casino, then go jump in the CLEAN, blue Colorado River to celebrate the win! Best of both worlds!!!!
