My husband and I are potentially moving to Lincoln for law school on the east campus. Can you please recommend a neighborhood that is NOT considered an "undergrad" area??

We would ideally like to buy or rent a single family home (2bed/2bath) with a yard (for the pup!) in a neighborhood that is close to the east campus and also be able to walk to restaurants, shops, etc. But if we had to compromise, we would choose to live within walking distance of the restaurants, shops, etc. We both adore homes built in the 1920s or earlier, so the more historic the better! Ideally we'd want to pay no more than $300,000 to purchase a home or $1000/month for rent.

Thanks!

You can get into a VERY nice home in Lincoln for $300,000. Finding a nice three or four bedroom apartment for $1,000 a month PLUS utilities should be possible also. If you decide to buy be very careful which real estate agent you go with. There are a lot of borderline UNETHICAL real estate agents in Lincoln. Some of them are very successful and well known. Remember unless you make arrangements otherwise a real estate agent is being paid by the SELLER. Right now it is a buyers market in Lincoln IF you have studied the market and know what your money will buy.

Good luck,
GL2

I'd recommend considering the Uni-Place area. It's an older neighborhood between East Campus and Nebraska Weslyan College. I moved there when I first came to Lincoln and loved the area.
