So one of my professors here is moving to Wayne, NE for her new job as one of the English professors at the college. The biggest problem she's facing, however, is that she has a cat which she has had for eight years. She would never consider giving up her pet, but every single place she's inquired about renting saying "NO PETS!" and will not consider making an exception, even for a responsible 30 year old woman. She is completely willing to put down a NON-refundable pet fee, but so far, no one is willing.

Can anyone help?!

Well I would suggest that she start each inquiry stating she is a professor and not a student,
that would be a more likely way of getting a pet exception.

Is the college not willing to help her out?

Keep trying. There are many landlords in Wayne and some do accept pets. Contact the Chamber of Commerce for their landlord list.

I agree.
I know a lot of renters in Wayne, a number of whom have pets. Even college kids can find rentals that allow a single cat.

I know she DID tell the landlords she called that she is a professor and not a student, but it didn't help. Thanks for the chamber of commerce tip, though. I will let her know!

Here's a link to the Wayne Herald where you will find new ads each week for apartments and houses for rent.
My Wayne News > Classifieds > For Rent
I hope you find it helpful. When you are in town, stop at the Chamber office for a relocation packet and to sign up for a Welcome Visit.
