Currently am thinking of moving to Superior. I am disabled and receive around 300 a month in income. I am disabled but only 40 years of age. Will I be able to find housing ? Are there rent assistance (section 8) programs available ? Utility assistance ? Food Stamps ? I haven't been able to acquire this information in making phone calls. Any answers are appreciated.

Default Moving to Superior

Hello,

I came up with some info that may help you.
I am disabled and living in North Platte NE.
First call or go on line to the Nebr Health and Human services offical website.
This is
www.hhs.state.ne.us The phone number is (402)-471-3121 This is in Lincoln NE Ask about info for Superior NE which I am sure is Nuckolls County. Check about assistance for you.
Also do a google search for Superior Ne and you will come up with a site that if the official site for Superior NE from the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce phone # is (402)-879-3419 or email them at superiorcc@alltel.net
I hope that this helps you. I know some about trying to find services and housing for disabled. It is very tough and pretty much no one cares about disabled issues.
Take care and good luck

I'm curious why you would pick Superior? My brother lives there and from what I hear the economy is about as bad as it gets in Nebraska, the groceries are high and the housing is faultering. There are so many other thriving small towns there, this would be my last choice...

I, too, haven't heard good reports concerning Superior. A friend of mine works for a underground construction business. He and his co-workers spent quite a bit of time in the Superior area. He said it was not the thriving town he once recalled. He was not impressed with other aspects as well.....which are perhaps a little rude to reveal on a public forum. All in all, I would not choose Superior.

Yes, I am curious about why you chose that particular town.
