Looking to visit Nashville in April for the first time but I don't know where to look for any music festivals? I've heard there is always live music on the streets at any time of the week, is that true?

Anywhere in particular you know of where we should look for upcoming events?

Any other high level recommendations??!!

Thanks!
-Dan

Yeah, you can always find live music down on lower Broad (Broadway) and in that general area, as well as the Bluebird Cafe, the Station Inn, and a few other places. There could be someone playing the Ryman, the Wildhorse, or the Sommet Center during that time (all are on or near Broadway); I just don't know offhand.

The big music festival is not until later in the year around the first of June. Thousands of visitors come to Nashville for that one, even people from overseas.

Not festivals, but here's something-

April 28th
-Country Music Marathon
Over 10,000 runners converge on Music City every April, normally held the 3rd weekend of the month, to run in this 26 mile Marathon and the 1/2 mile Marathon. It even comes with roadside bands, and entertainment. It is held in downtown Nashville.
-“Step Afrika!”
ARTS ACCESS concert series presented by the Global Education Center “Step Afrika!” at Father Ryan High School Center at 7:30 p.m.

April 29th
Jazz & Blues Society’s Concert
The Tennessee Jazz & Blues Society’s Concert on the Lawn performance at Belle Meade Plantation starts at 6p.m. and runs until 8 p.m.

First timers should plan to take an evening at the Bluebird. Awesome "little" venue and atmosphere. Reservations can be made online at www.bluebirdcafe.com. My wife and I really enjoy the nights where they bring in several different writers/performers and share each others songs. We really like the Bluebird.
