We just has a discussion last week in the Nashville forum about classic cars and car museums in the area (there are a couple). I'll have to check the calendar to see what events are scheduled for September. There are sometimes concerts in the park, as well as Shakespeare in the park, at Centennial and Bicentennial Park and also some jazz concerts at the Belle Meade Plantation.

As for photography, there are a number of interesting natural areas around Nashville if that's the kind of photography you're interested in. I especially recommend the Natchez Trace Parkway and Radnor Lake.

The main tourist area is downtown along lower Broad. It's its touristy, but there are some interesting places to visit such as the Ryman or the Country Music Hall of Fame or the symphony hall. If you're interested in history, there is the Hermitage (home of Andrew Jackson) and a number of antebellum plantations in the area. The Frist sometimes has a nice exhibits but I think the better exhibits won't be here until next year (including Whistler's Mother).

By the way, your post would probably be better placed in the Nashville forum. You would probably get more responses there. I'm going to report your post; don't worry, this just means a moderator will move it if they deem that it would be better there than in the main Tennessee forum.

ETA: I'm primarily noting things in Nashville to do. Nashville is relatively close to Murfreesboro so I assumed Nashville events would be something you would consider.

Unfornutately you will be here too late for the summer concert series on the square. The one in September is on the 5th.

There is live music at 527 W. Main St. There is also live music at The Blue Rooster on the Square. The Square itself is very charming to walk around. There are some cute shops and nice restaruants there as well. It looks like you stepped back in time. There is also live music at JoZoara Coffee Shop. It's a new place that seems to be pretty popular already.

You could go to The Oakland Museum.
Oaklands Historic House Museum

The Stones River Battlefield. They have civil war reinactments there and there is also the greeenway. A beautiful place to walk and take pictures.

Side Note: There was some tornado damage there. I think some paths on the Greenway are closed off.

Cannonsburgh Village is another good photo op.

I don't know anything about cars so I can't help you there. I don't think there is anything like that here. There is in Nashville which is about 30 minutes away.

Hope this helps.

I believe Kim covered the spectrum of what to see here in town. As far as cars go, I do not believe there is anything like that. I do hope you come to our fine town and enjoy your stay! Feel free to ask any more questions!

Most Saturdays in the summer there is an informal gathering of classic cars at the Stones River mall there.
However, I don't know if they do it into September. I've seen some amazing cars there--usually 50-100 in the times I've been there. Friendly folks who like people looking at their cars.
