I would recommend the SUMNER co side of Goodlettsville or Hendersonville. There are some beautiful new neighborhoods along Long Hollow Pk and around Moss Wright Park. The Beech area of Hendersonville, adjacent to Goodlettsville is also nice and home to most of the new construction in the area. You will also have great schools in the Beech/Madison Creek district.

Hendersonville is a big city. If you live far down on one of the peninsula or on the far eastern side, yes, you will have a long commute. However, there are some great areas that are really close to I-65 and/or Vietnam Vets. I would consider Mansker Farms. It's less than five minutes from the first Hendersonville exit on Vietman vets and less than 10 minutes to a direct I-65 exit at Long Hollow Pk. Once you get past the Vietnam Vets merge onto 65 you don't have much traffic going into the airport area as traffic rarely backs up before Briley Pkwy.

It's also a great city for families. The city has good schools, puts on a lot of great festivals throughout the year, has an excellent park system, and was recently rated as one of the top 10 cities in the country for Families by Family Circle magazine.

I'd second Mt. Juliet. Hendersonville could be okay depending on the location (schools are great but commute could be rough). I think the commute from Williamson County would be hard, but the trade off would be the great schools. You can easily access I-24 from parts of Nolensville, but from Nolensville Rd just to get to I-24 is a good 10 minutes. Then the stretch from I-24 to either get to Briley Pkwy or I-40 is clogged up with all the Rutherford Co. commuters. You could research Rutherford Co. to shave off some time versus a Williamson Co. commute. However, La Vergne is rich with foreclosures (which can mean a great buy for you now, but stagnant values for a while). If you looked into Rutherford Co I'd probably stick with Murfreesboro.
