I live just off of Exit 2 on the Vietnam Vets bypass in Hendersonville. How long would it take me to reach Century Blvd during rush hour if I get off 65S at Exit 90B (Briley Pkwy) and take Briley all the way to Elm Hill Pike & McGavock Pike? Would I be going against traffic or caught up in the worst of it?

Also, if anyone thinks another route would be better during rush hour, please let me know.

Thanks!

I don't really know the answer to your question, but it would probably be better if you said whether you mean morning rush hour, or afternoon. Certain places around town are notorious for bottle-necking during rush hour. These vary somewhat between the morning and afternoon.

Briley Parkway seems to flow fairly well most of the time; but someone who travels that route regularly would have a better ideas of the time to the airport than I would.

I would be leaving H'ville with the intention of reaching the airport area at 8:30am, and I would be leaving the airport area for H'Ville around 5:00pm.

You would be somewhat off of peak times. I'd guess about 40 minutes start to end (estimating on the high side), but since I don't travel that route I could be way off.

That is not a bad commute at all. I-65 is smooth sailing until just past Briley/Dickerson in the mornings unless there is an accident. In the afternoon it will be a little sluggish getting on the bypass, but it won't even add 5 minutes to your commute time.

Thanks, but what about conditions on Briley itself during rush hour? I know Briley is very wide, but does its width effectively accommodate the traffic at peak times?

I have never encountered traffic on Briley unless there is a major crash or the President is arriving at the airport.

I used to work in the Opryland Area...close to the airport and my Morning commute was usually about 20-25 minutes. The only problem area was the merge onto 65 from Vietnam Vets.

However, the afternoon commute was always longer...at least 35 min. I usually crawled between Old Hickory Blvd and Vietnam Vets.

Thanks. I got to see the morning rush hour this morning, and I kept thinking "Wow! There's nobody here!" But I speculated that it might be different in the afternoon at exactly the spot you mention.
