Hi,

Im from Richmond, Virginia
Im gonna be playing the Bluebird Cafe July 29th, and I was looking for venues within 100 miles of Nashville to complete the tour. I'm stopping first in Johnson City.

Anyways- looking for venues that aren't stuck and snobby about booking out of town acts. Mostly coffee house type places or anti-bar establishments. Where alcohol is not served.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

So far I've heard about Coco's and Caffeine.

Thanks!

You DO know the Bluebird has a big ole bar, right?

Just about every place I can think of serves at least beer.
Try It's A Grind in Brentwood. (Just outside of Nashville) Have you contacted Borders yet?

Good luck!

Yes I realize that. But its a formidable venue.

The guy that runs Borders acts like its Carnegie Hall and isn't very courteous to out of town acts, but I will keep trying.

The only place that comes to mind is Bonjo Java in Nashville. They have music and theatre performances upstairs. Steve Earle used to put on a regular show there. It's very small (and the seating is awful . . . I thought my butt was going to fall off one night during a play from sitting on a wooden stool) but it might be worth a shot.

If you've never been to the Bluebird, you'll probably be surprised. It's located in a small, nondescript building in a shopping district.

Ive actually been to the Bluebird Cafe before to play their open mic.

This will be my 4th trip to Nashville, so I am familiar with the city. Just not the music scene.

Thanks so much for the tips!

Do they have a website by chance?

http://www.bongojava.com/ I misspelled it in my original reply; it's Bongo, not Bonjo.

I don't know anything about the arrangement needed to play there.

Of course, there's any number of places around with music but most of them are bars or clubs.

Default Hi,

Where and when are you playing in Johnson City? Or if you have already played, when will you be in the area again?

It's a Grind went out of Business. It closed down a few months ago.
