Hi, can someone recemmend a general dentist in or near Smyrna that is child friendly? My daughter will need braces soon and it will be less expensive to get her braces at a general dentist than the specialist she goes to now. I'm looking for someone who works great with nervous children.
Thanks, Dawn

Dr. Chitwood is actually in Murfreesboro - his office is near Kmart on the corner of Hamilton and W. Clark Blvd. He does general dentistry, but he specializes in dental implants - I have an appointment with him in the morning for my final implant surgery myself! He and his entire office staff are absolutely wonderful.

If you prefer to stay in Smyrna, you could give Dr. Dan Hipps a call. His office is in the office park off Enon Springs Road across from Wal-Mart. My husband and I have been patients of his for the past 9 years and have been very satisfied with his work. He and Mike, his partner in crime - or dental assistant - are great guys and are good with kids, too. Again, I don't know if he'll do orthodontics, but you could always call and ask. If you go see him, tell him Beth, his favorite and most complex implant case, referred you. He'll know who you're talking about.

Thanks mary moon. We dont need braces right away, but probably within this year. I just want to be prepared for when we do. My girls dont need a cleaning until August, so I have some time to find that right dentist. I'll keep searching and find out about the two that were mentioned so far. I dont mind going too far out of Smyrna if the dentist is worth the drive. We go to Murfreesboro alot anyway.

You also might want to try verifying the dentists license information here.

Good luck finding a great dentist!
