Hi,

We are Re-locating from Israel to Nashville this October for couple of years. I'm 39 years old.

I'm looking to learn some lessons/courses (non academic) like: English (general), Ceramics, Cooking, Yoga, Etc.

Well, I don't know where to start from ... I will appreciate if you can recommend about good and proven places to look for.

Thanks

There are all sorts of ault classes held at varies places around town. Some of them are hosted by Metro Nashville (parks and education departments), others by the colleges in the area, some at places like Cheekwood, and still others at private organizations.

ESL (English as a second language) classes are also held all around town. A major language institute is the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute: TFLI Welcome Tennessee Foreign Language Institute - Creating a dialogue with the world... (http://tfli.org/default.aspx - broken link)

alleycat is right...there are a lot of ESL courses around town.

As far as other courses go, you won't find another city our size with as many universities and colleges. Most of the community colleges offer adult studies programs like pottery, photography, etc. Check out Nashville Tech and Volunteer State Community College when you get into town. They also offer correspondence courses that meet at local high schools, which may be more convenient for you.

Thanks for the useful info.

I'm checking with ESL. Will check the rest when I'll get to Nashville.

I don't know that you're Jewish, I'm just guessing you are since you're in Israel. There's a active Jewish community in Nashville (mostly on the west side of town). They might even have some kind of ESL classes.

There is also a nice Jewish Community Center out to the west between West Meade and Bellevue.
