I'm looking at the Nashville area suburbs as a potential retirement location.

As I'm searching for rentals to live and check it out, I'm learning there a a LOT of trains!
I know you can hear trains from a couple miles away...

Is there ANY place (safe/desireable) neighborhood in the Nashville area suburbs to live far enough away so as to never hear trains from your home?

Areas I've looked in are Franklin, Bellevue, Brentwood, and Hermitage.

I would appreciate local input, thank you!

Check out Hendersonville, down Walton Ferry Rd or Indian Lake Rd. There's also the area around Saundersville Ferry Rd. in Wilson County.

Let's take Bellevue. The single track line curves around. There are a few grade crossings between downtown Nashville & Bellevue. The line is busy enough with freight headed to/from Memphis to never ever stop on the track. For noise you want to be a mile or so away to not notice the horn noise so much. It can be done.

The line thru Hermitage and Lebanon is a little different with the Music City Star. The commuter train runs AM & PM rush hours. In between there can be some freight. You still can't ignore crossing warnings to be safe. You can get dwelling not so close to the track so you don't notice horn noise so much.

The main freight lines come from Louisville or Evansville via parts of Rivergate then heads south to Chattanooga. Another line heads south to Birmingham. Downtown a main yard is why they call it the Gulch. There is a south side yard not far from the Zoo. With a little care you should find something where the noise is not so bad.

The Franklin line is another industrial route that ends at the GM Spring Hill plant with some other customers along the way. Not sure how busy it may be depending on times of day. You can see it near the Barnes & Noble bookstore. With a Google search you may find how close it is to any apartments.
