My family and I plan to move to Nashville area next spring. We would like to buy a new construction home in a appreciating community. Our budget is $400K - $600K. What are some suggestions?

Thanks.

You can look up "New Homes Nashville". Pick your builder, pick what community they have projects in. A better question is where will you be working & what transit options you will need. THen there are the usual questions about family, school needs, other concerns. It is a little crazy to just pick a budget of $400-600 and find your money spent on a bad location choice.

There are a tonne of new construction communities in Williamson, all within your price point. You can search on realtracs.com for new construction. Some of the larger "new construction" include Berry Farms, Ladd Park, Westhaven, Tollgate Village and then there are lots of smaller projects as well.

A couple things to think about. You pay a premium for new construction, much like a car. They are still building in my hood. New construction at my square footage is probably $100-150k more than what I would sell my "used" house for. Also things are good now, but there were many subdivisions that got started before the last downturn and then changed their vision, builder, amenities, etc as a result of the downtown. Tollgate is doing well now, but originally it was a lot of larger homes, then when the downturn came the started building cottages. Also new construction means you are surrounded by construction for possibly years. I've been in my house 10 years. They are still building. Thankfully all the houses around me are done, but we still have a lot of construction vehicles on my street.
