Indianapolis and Louisville are both EST...and from what I hear Louisville gets lots of light because they are so far west and still EST. So this of course means we are the reverse...so far east and CST. So it must get so dark so early here in winter (and not in Louisville). Thanks for your thoughts!

I sure wish we were. When I was at UT, I loved the summer nights, because it was light until after 9pm. The days felt longer and you felt like you could get more done.

I'd be perfectly fine if they made the Tennessee River (on the west side) the line for the time change.

Those late summer nights in Knoxville were nice, but I'm more of a morning person, so I hated those dark winter mornings more than I liked those late summer nights. I hated that the sun didn't come up til 8:30am in the winter. So for that reason, I love being in the far eastern edge of the central time zone which means that the morning sun is always up way before I go to work, even in the dead of winter.

That's why I always scheduled classes after 10am.

I lived in Florida for a time and used to occasionally have to work in Knoxville. Because of that I will forever hate eastern time. Dark mornings and late starts to TV programming and out of town sports.

The sun is up pretty early. Just turn all the clocks in your house and your iPhones to EST and you'll be fine! It's really all a state of mind . . .

When I retired we were going to look in the Knoxville area. My wife wanted to be in the CST because her TV shows started earlier. So here we are in Murfreesboro! Go figure.
