Okay, for those who have been following or contributing to our upcoming move, we will be back this weekend (no ice storm this time!!!). Our goal for this trip is to walk through our short list of homes, make an offer, and hopefully have our offer accepted.

Once again, we have shifted our search area (this has become tiring). We are now staying south of the city, looking at a sweep from Bellevue to the area surrounding the airport. Willing to look in Franklin but pretty sure we can't afford Franklin. We have a couple in Bellevue, a few in the "Brantioch" area (between Brentwood and Antioch), plus one that is in Antioch near a golf course (Nashboro Village/Woods area). Does anything know anything they can report about this area of Antioch? Good? Bad? Spotty?

We take off tomorrow and are so excited about this coming weekend!

Sounds like a wide swatch of Nashville to search in. You could afford Franklin, if you wanted. There are 2 houses in Franklin Green and one in McKay's Mill currently under $300,000. I can't remember the rest of your needs/wants??

I once lived in Nashboro Village about 15 years ago on the apartment side of the golf course. I am not sure i can recommend that area especially if you have kids. I dont think its a horrible area but you are going to have a lot of apartments nearby. I remember we looked at a 2 bed, 2 bath townhome on the golf course back around 2005 that they were looking for 145K or so and i think they go for substantially less than that now. I just think that area is several steps below the other areas you are looking at. If I were to grade them I would give the Brantioch area (if you mean in the vicinity of Old Hickory Blvd and Edmonson Pike) a B- and Nashboro Village a C-.

Looks to be a good plan. From your hotel try different routes from Brentwood to Bellevue via Old Hickory, Harding Place, then White Bridge/Briley/Thompson Lane to get around the city.

While there is no ice storm it will be plenty cold in the morning. Depending when you start you may need something to de-ice car windows.

The Antioch area is making a come back, and affordable new homes in the 150-250 range are still available with more brung built.

Another area to consider in your search is Fairview. Close to Bellevue, Nashville, Franklin. New homes are being built under 200k and that won't last long!

Welcome to Middle Tennessee!

We bought a house this weekend - success! We toured several homes in Bellevue on Saturday (that cool air was nothing compared to what the hubby and I have experienced in the Great Lakes region during winter), then spent Sunday in Sugar Valley, Barnes Cove, and Indian Creek associations. By late Monday, our offer on a home in Barnes Cove was accepted. We have a closing date and a tentative move date. We should be unpacking in our new home about 6/1! Thanks everybody.

Congratulations! We're not too far from that area, and we like it here a lot.
