Hello! Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. We are planning a move to the Nashville area from So. CA and private, Christian school selection is a crucial area for me. We're committed to a Christian school for our kids and have spoke with Franklin Road Academy already. They seem friendly but I'm open to suggestions! We're really thinking we like Franklin the best. Is Franklin Road Academy too far of a drive to do twice a day from Franklin? I really don't want to drive anymore than 15-20 minutes to get to school each day. Mornings sitting on a clogged freeway doesn't appeal to me. Would Brentwood be a better choice? Or, are there other really good Christian schools closer to Franklin that you'd kindly recommend? Our budget is no more than $850,000, new construction, minimum of 4,500-5,000 sq. ft. As close to an upscale shopping area as possible. Thanks so much!!!!

If you are firm on 15-20 minutes to FRA, then Franklin would be a no-go. Really, you would have to be in the northern section of Brentwood for that to work (in the mornings, commute via Franklin Rd, US 31, might be as quick as the interstate, depending on location).

Really, if you are already set on a private school and a short commute.....why not Oak Hill?

Thank you for the info, Nashvols! I did see the Oak Hill School website but it appeared to be just a private school not a Christian school? I've also read some not so great reviews about Franklin Road Academy online which is why I'm asking for recommendations. I truly don't want my kids at an elitist, cliquey school and some reviews talked about those exact things. I'm not sure why there's not more Christian school options closer to Franklin.....

how old are your kids?

CPA (Christ Presbyterian Academy) is IMHO the best Christian school in the area academically.

There are other Christian schools in Franklin but everyone I know who has tried them has left saying their kids were bored academically. There is Franklin Christian, Grace Chapel Academy and The Classical Academy.

I believe Nashvols meant why not look for a home in Oak Hill, in the southernmost part of Davidson County and the part of town where FRA is located.

FRA has had an exodus of families over the past few years because of leadership struggles. They are trying to remedy it and have recruited some of Williamson County's best principals away.

Our friends left FRA for Brentwood Academy, which would be my choice over CPA. But we know families at both schools and all are happy.

What grades are your kids in?

I didn't suggest BA because I always think of it as Upper school and OP mentioned FRA which was K-12.

Yeah, BA starts in 6th grade. I bet the OP has elementary-age
kids.

I think FRA would be fine for elementary.

OP if you are looking for private school route why not consider Davidson county? Green Hills/Forest Hills, etc would probably be an easier commute. Then you would have your choice of Christian schools from FRA, CPA, David Lipscomb, Covenant, St Pauls, etc.

Yes, that is what I meant. I forgot about there being an Oak Hill school. Sorry for the confusion.

If commute is a big factor, then south/southwest Davidson County, as well as northern Williamson (primarily Brentwood, west of I-65) would likely be more suitable than Franklin. Oak Hill and Forest Hills are small semi-independent towns in Davidson County (they still use Metro Police and NFD, for instance). Green Hills is part of Nashville proper.

If you're looking at a real estate map, Area 2.

Agree with Septimus, Christ Presbyterian Academy would be my first choice for a christian school. Not familiar with any conflict within FRA, so can't comment there. FRA used to require a year of Bible study, not sure if that is still the case, otherwise, I have never seen much difference between FRA and BGA. Grace Chapel Academy in the Leiper's Fork area is new. If you have young children it might be nice to begin there and grow with the school.
