Hmm, not sure about their average housing price, but might be true in Nashville "proper" (city limits?)

Nashville is a pretty affordable city to raise a family. My girlfriend is from Brentwood, TN one of the wealthier cities in TN and its still pretty affordable compared to the East and West Coast cities. The cost of living is pretty low. Lexington, KY where I live now also made the list. I am thinking to moving to Nashville when I finish graduate school because its a great city to live in if you work in health care.

I think that was referencing only Davidson County since all of the other data were for Davidson County only. It may be true for Davidson, but I would still think it is low. Davidson is different than the other counties in and around Nashville because it has, in different areas of the county, the most expensive real estate in the metro area as well as the some of the cheapest. Median home price means a whole lot less in Davidson than it does in most other counties. For example, the price difference between a 5000 sq ft house in Williamson or Sumner isn't going to vary all that much between Brentwood and Franklin or Hendersonville or Gallatin. However, a 5000 sq ft house in Davidson could vary considerable. It might be $200,000 if it were located in some neighborhoods, and it might be $2 million in other neighborhoods.

On the whole, according to this article Lexington and Nashville are very similar. However, having moved from Lexington to Nashville I would have to say that Nashville real estate is much more expensive than Lexington's.
