What would you like to know about the area?

We are a very good sized city with most of the parks, amenities, shopping, restaurant options, etc that you'd need or want in a big city. There isn't much you can buy in Nashville that you can't buy or find in Clarksville. We are 30 minutes to 40 minutes north of Nashville, with major live music shows. We are 30 minutes from Kentucky Lake with hiking, camping, and outdoor activities, let alone the ones we have here and in immediate surrounding counties.

Our schools are good, the better ones are in the exit 8 and 11 areas.

But, the question remains, what are you looking for exactly?

My parents know what they're looking for. They like a place that's 'country like', 'humble', near the military base, affordable, not busy, doesn't have 'middle eastern/Muslim people' (sorry, not to sound prejudice, it's just they had really bad experiences w/ them). Clarksville seems like the best place to go. We visited there a year ago. They liked it. My dad can't afford the place we're currently at. And more 'middle eastern/Muslim people' are moving here (I'm so sorry I have to say it, I don't mean to). I mean, I have met a couple of nice Indian people here. And, the people here think they're too good.

We don't have a large number of Muslim folks in town. We do have a large number of south east asian folks. You do find that around military bases. Not sure if that bothers you.

I can say, from my personal experience, that I had rarely had a problem any foreign nationality, and I lived near, and worked in Dearborn Michigan and Dearborn heights which we called "little Baghdad". So I'm not sure what their experience was, but I can assure you anyone I have talked to in town who wears a head dress or is Muslim outright, have all been good people here in Clarksville. Our biggest issue is 20 year old Army men who feel like they have to drag race.

If "country" is more important then schools, I would look at the Big Rock/Dover area. Very rural, near base, and you're only 20 minutes from 101st parkway and all the shopping options near base.

Not at all. It's just my dad's the person who have that feeling towards them. Anyways, thank you so much for the helpful information. I will look up those 2 other places you mentioned.

The closer you get to post or the mall the busier and more frantic its going to get. We moved out to the country to get away from all the sirens and thumping bass at 2AM. Now other than the occasional day of gunshots near the start of hunting season we rarely have any problems. Woodlawn, Dotsonville, Sango...those are some places that are technically in Clarksville but wont subject you to the hustle and bustle. You could also try Hopkinsville, KY ("Hoptown"); its rather nice as well.

Hopkinsville has Kentucky taxes.

I live in Sango myself, which is why I suggest exit 8 or 11. Even south of town towards montgomery central is a good area.

I totally agree, don't live near exit 4 or base.

Old post but bumping it up.
Clarksville is not a place to enter if you are not used to BIG city lots of Traffic. We rented on exit 8, then bought on exit 11 in Sango. Less busy area, but still busy. How many Walmarts/McDonalds does Cville have, Hard to know cause they keep building. Wilma Rudolph is a nightmare at rush hour. If you like shopping and fast food and five of everything, then CVille is the place. We stayed two years there total and left last September, it was just too many people, never felt at home as we were not military. Cville was not as TN is. I had a lady ask me not to judge beautiful TN on Clarksville.
Hopkinsville is smaller and less busy, feels more hometown ish.
