Metro reveals partner, renderings for Nashville Convention Center redevelopment - Nashville Business Journal

Thoughts? I'm not sure I like the building design.

It's a much better idea than a "medical mart."

Well yeah. A medical mart sounds like a terrible idea

That's the initial rendering. The tower height could (and likely will) be shorter. The design will probably change as well...for better or worse. One thing is for certain: it's better than the so absolutely dated facade that currently sits there.

I wish it had a more sleek look to it. I think our sky line is nice, but some of the buildings are too bulky looking, except for the new Pinnacle building, its very sleek looking.

Agreed that it's a little tall for the space, but I also definitely agree it's better than what's there now. I guess I'm showing my age but I remember when the Convention Center was being built and thinking how futuristic it looked once completed. I won't say it's an eyesore now, but it definitely doesn't give you good vibes architecturally speaking.

I'd probably prefer something a little shorter but still sleek. I really like that the short honkytonks of Lower Broad are a part of the Nashville Skyline from many angles and don't like the idea of tall buildings encroaching on the District. That said, the current design is pushing it, but not overly so. I'd be okay with it, but would prefer something a little more in harmony height-wise with the area.

On closer inspection, the tower design is awful. I'm not sure what they call the metal skin on the side, but it's about as cool as the white sunglasses that have bars running across the lenses. I don't want a tower with douchey Kanye West fashion sense.

It looks shiny in the renderings. Hope it doesn't melt cars! Talk about unintended consequences.
