I guess that's the point of the thread, though. The restaurant business is tough, and not one with which I am well acquainted. As Noshville's owners know, the formula for success here is difficult to figure out.
we liked that diner too

There IS a 24 hour "diner" slated for downtown Nashville. I think a 24 hour place would be a nice addition and I'll bet it will be full of musicians! Well, just a thought . . i don't think anything is open that late at the moment? Bongo Java is open until 11 which I think is pretty generous for a coffee shop.

Add us to the list of people who liked the diner. It was always full when we were there. I don't understand why they went out of business.

I'd love for Athens diner to open one in Franklin.

- Cafe Coco is open 24 hours
- The Hermitage Cafe is open from 10PM to 1:30PM (so, all night)
- Most of the spots in Five Points will make you food until 2:30 or 3AM (e.g., Drifter's, Beyond the Edge, Red Door East)
- Waffle House
- Prince's is open until 4AM on the weekends, as are at least a few places downtown (I think -- it's been a while since I've hung out down there, but a few years ago there was a great Middle Eastern place that was upon until 4, so there must be more!)

Add the aforementioned Athens, which is open overnight on Friday and Saturday (7am Friday to 8pm Sunday).

Five-and-Diner had a place in Jackson, too, and it closed around the same time the one in Franklin closed. The one in Jackson did great business, too. I think it was something with the company and not necessarily a problem with Cool Springs that led to the closing of both.

It was an awesome place!

We are talking about Cool Springs, no Maggianos here. Legal Seafood is great, especially if you have food allergies, they really go the extra mile.

I wondered what happened to McDougals in Cool Springs. I ate there about once every 3 weeks, and it was always PACKED! I was shocked when I drove over there one night to eat with my family, and it was closed! I just knew there was no way they could have closed due to lack of business. I totally understand with that kind of rent. That's ridiculous.
