I am a special education teacher in the Memphis area. I am looking to relocate to the Nashville/Murfreesboro area. I have 3 kids ( 8th grade, 1st grade, & 1 year old). My son does receive inclusion services at his local school and is usually a B/C student. He is very easy going but I need an awesome school system or school for he and my 1st grader. So I need a good area with great daytime childcare and good schools K-12. Also, since I will be applying in the same school system, recommendations as to what county to apply in will be beneficial as well. I do not have to be in Nashville persay but, given the opportunity on weekends I will commute. Looking for a 3 bedroom house to rent or a nice apartment. Help please!

I'm sure someone else will chime in about schools . . . what's your rental budget? Nashville has gotten kind of expensive lately. Apartments are going fast so prices have gone up.

I would look in Rutherford County (both for housing and a job).

I'm afraid I still don't know much about schools. Best place to look for housing is realtracs.com.

Here are houses in your price range for rent in Murfreesboro, which will be more affordable.

Williamson County, just below Davidson County where Nashville is, is supposed to have the best schools. Those towns would be Franklin, and maybe Spring Hill. These are the only apartments I have any knowledge of in Franklin - nice location, well kept. You could find a 2 bedroom in your price range. Finding a 3 bedroom house would probably not happen and even a 2 bedroom would take some looking.

So Septimus might be right to focus your search in Murfreesboro.

There is a search this forum option in the upper right hand corner along the bar. You can search "Williamson County Schools" and find a lot of info. Here is a recent thread:

You can also search for info on Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro is the biggest city in Rutherford County. It's about 45 minutes from Nashville. Still close enough to come up for museums, concerts, etc.

I live in Bedford County. Very good location. To look for school rating - schooldigger.com and greatschools.com. I have been checking these websites myself when we were looking for a house. Christiana, Bell Buckle have great school rating. From Murfreesboro to Nashville 36 miles of driving. My baby is attending a day care in Murfreesboro, very good one. No problem to find a day care.
