I went to the Frist to see the "Sensuous Steel" exhibit - cars and 2 motorcycles from the Art Deco (30's) era. Wow. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Can't believe these cars are 80 years old!

Also, the exhibit will be featured on "Sunday Morning" (CBS) this Sunday, August 18th. Nashville gets more air time!

"Sensuous Steel" is at the Frist until September 15th.

I think I remember seeing something about the exhibit being featured in a magazine in either Sweden or Norway.

The brochure says " . . . Sensuous Steel is the first major museum auto exhibition devoted entirely to At Deco automobiles." So I guess it's of some note to old car fans.

Ate in the cafe and it's really nice - big glass windows, paninis (sp?) and they make their own potato chips! Not a big menu but the food was good, as was the cheesecake we swore we had no room for . . .

Yeah, the cafe was surprisingly good the times I've ate there.

Thanks for the heads up on the TV spot! I took my in-laws (who aren't art people) to see it earlier this summer and it was a big hit all around. I look forward to seeing what CBS Sunday Morning does with it.

I went last month. Well worth it if you like classic cars. This isn't like some car show...

If anyone is interested, there is a video on YT of the Tennessee Crossroads segment on the exhibit. I don't think they'll let me post a link, but it's easy enough to find on YT. Some of the Tennessee Crossroads shows are on the WNPT website as well.

Alleycat - GREAT FIND!!! Thanks! I know it's on my ipad - on the PBS app. Very cool. Consider yourself 'repped' - it keeps telling me I have to spread it around . . . . sorry!
