There's also a very extensive thread on the show here:

If you get the chance to get out to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, there's a wonderful exhibit called LIGHT - on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights only. Worth seeing - very unique!

I had friends from Cincinnati down a few weeks back. They stayed downtown for 3 nights and only used their car once, to go to the Bluebird. Have a great visit!
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, we are leaving Sunday morning to head back to NC, so we will miss out on the Nashville tour.

Thanks, everyone, for the restaurant tips and other advice! I know crime can happen anywhere, and of course we'll stay aware of our surroundings. But going to unfamiliar cities, I always like to ask about safe or unsafe areas, to have a heads up. I found Deacon's and Scarlett's houses on google maps street view, and saw what looked to be the projects nearby. That was the other reason I asked about Boscobel specifically.

Please let me know if there are any other 'must see' places or restaurants to check out. We'll be there from the 3rd (late) to the 8th, and we'd like to see what we can while we are there! We're planning to get a Total Access Pass, and visit some of the attractions (CMHoF, Grande Ole Opry, Ryman). I'm hoping to be able to get reservations at the Bluebird, too. I'm sure they fill up fast, but I'm hoping if I am online at 8 AM on Monday morning, it won't be a problem.

Have you signed up for the Bluebird? A friend of mine had that problem - you have to register first, get a password. THEN hang out on Monday at 8AM. Then when the 'map' of the seating comes up it is not the most intuitive thing . . just click on all the seats until one sort of registers . . . to me it was not obvious.

I think you can always stand in line, which is what my friends from Cincinnati did. Not a long drive from downtown.

Did someone mention Pucketts downtown as a place to eat? Also, the Hermitage (hotel) for lunch would be good. The restaurant is called the Capitol Grille.

Capitol Grille is definitely a good pick. I would also consider Etch and Husk. There are plenty of nice upscale options.

Etch is my new favorite restaurant at the moment. Everything I've had there has been outstanding. Apparently, they're expanding....which is good. Hopefully, it's the bar area...it's pretty small.

I haven't been to Etch yet, but I am very familiar with Deb Paquette from her days at Zola. She's an outstanding chef.

CountryGirl2b= I registered for The Bluebird already. I'm logged in, and have the calendar up to hopefully make it a little quicker tomorrow morning. Puckett's was recommended, so it is on my list. nashvols and Edgefield D, we'll check out the menus of Etch and Husk, and Capitol Grille.

Husk has about a two week wait for reservations.

Hadn't seen anything about North Nashville restaurants, but there are a lot of cool spots in the Germantown area:

--Rolf and Daughters for happy hour
--Monell's, Silo, and City House are good places to eat
--Germantown Cafe for brunch

all pretty good places
