Our family is looking to move to the Nashville area...within 30/45 min ride of Nashville. We are from Tampa, FL and looking for a new start. We need to know what area's to stay away from as far a where we rent a home, the best schools, how the job market is in that area. Please let us know what info you may have! It is greatly appreciated!

It might be easiest to do a search from the first page to find similar threads, but if you tell us your budget and type of job, we can give you some pointers to help you narrow the search.

Budget for house rental is up to $1100. We do not have jobs there yet, but hubby is an automotive mechanic so he can almost work anywhere, and I have experience in accounting and payroll, with a Bachelors Degree in Business.

Your budget is on the low side for this area. The best counties for schools are Williamson, Sumner, Wilson, and some parts of Rutherford.
Your best chance of finding houses in your budget would be in Smyrna or Murfreesboro in Rutherford County. Make sure anything you consider in Smyrna is zoned for Smyrna schools, not LaVergne.
Murfreesboro is a long commute to Nashville, but it is a city in its own right, so you may be able to both find jobs there.
If your children are young, you could also look at Bellevue in Davidson County, focusing on rentals that are zoned for Harpeth Valley. It's a good elementary school, but the middle and high schools get more problematic in Davidson Co.
The unemployment rate in Nashville is 6.3, compared to 7.7 nationally. So the job situation here is better than the nation as a whole, but obviously I wouldn't move anywhere without a job.

One place you can look for rentals is realtracs.com

Thank you for the information! How does one go about getting a job when we are out of state? I have no problem submitting my resume ahead of time, but kind of hard to interview from so far away. We have never done this kind of move before, so I am very much in need of information!
