We lived in Hendersonville for two years. It was not for us. We now live in Crieve Hall and we love it--it just fits us so much better.
However, there were several things we did like about Hendersonville.
1. Very family-friendly. Lots of things for kids to do and lots of other people with kids.
2. Great shopping. Very convenient. Love The Streets of Indian Lake.
3. Lots of housing options at different price points

Things we did not like:
1. Very politically conservative. We are moderates and found that we were very much in the majority. People are friendly, but we just had trouble finding people like us. Lots of the people we met had grown up in Hendersonville and lived there all their lives. We are Christians and had trouble finding a church that was a good fit for us as well.
2. Sumner County Commission controls the school budget is completely out of touch. In fact, this year the start of school had to be delayed. There always seemed to me to be a strong "good ole boy" component that thinks all you need is chalk and the 3 r's. They really need to get with the program.

I hope people don't flame me for expressing some opinions. A big part of why we moved to Hendersonville was all the glowing information we found on this very board. So I hope that others searching for information can see this info and weigh it into their decisions. For us, living in Hendersonville was a costly mistake. For many others, it is a perfect fit. We have good friends who live there, and I don't want to come across as bashing the place at all. I encourage anyone to rent first if you have any reservations.

I love Crieve Hall! I don't live there (needed a different configuration with no steps) but I LOVE the size of the yards! Is there an HOA there? Could you fence your back yard if you wanted to? And, how long does it take to mow all that grass? Lovely though, the mature trees, etc . . . . Nice!

I agree that just like all of Nashville's suburbs, The average Hendersonvillian tends to be very conservative. However I had an opposite experience with meeting people though as I found it extremely rare to meet someone who had lived in Hendersonville for more than 5-10 years. Almost everyone in my neighborhood was, like myself, a transplant.
