Also talks about some of the revival of certain areas. Not anything locals don't already know about, but might be found interesting by people thinking about moving here.

Just keep confirming why I fell in love with Nashville during my vacation, why don't you. Pretty soon this New Yorker is going to pick up and come on down there for good!

This thread got me looking for some dinning locations that seemed cool, and I ran across this place called Dick's. Anyone been there? Looks like a fun place to eat.

I've been to the one in San Diego and it was fun place with good food and a nice selection of beer. Was crowded and pretty rowdy. Not a place to go if you're looking for a quiet place to chat.

Yes, good for people thinking of moving - especially younger folks.

Good article and a good intro to Nashville for out-of-towners wanting to dig a little deeper.

Random observation...I think its interesting that you always seem to see Kathy Mattea and Garth mentioned when discussing the Bluebird. Garth I get, obviously, he's the best selling country artist of all time. But do people outside of Nashville know who Kathy Mattea is? I'd venture a guess many Nashvillians (and particularly younger ones) don't know her. I'm not knocking on her...she has had a great career (Mary Did You Know is one of my favorite Christmas tunes)...it's just interesting that a place as reknown as the Bluebird always seems to mention her when she hasn't had a gold record in a long time. I think Taylor Swift has a Bluebird connection...you'd think that would be a little more timely.

I should have mentioned this in my earlier post, but I forgot. After completing the drive from New York down to Nashville, my friend and I were both tired and starving. We were staying in East Nashville and discovered Cafe Margot from the exceptional online reviews. We went there for dinner and it was fantastic! I could not have asked for a better first impression of Nashville. I'll be honest, I think some of my New York food snobbery had me worried that the food scene in Nashville would be sub-par. Well, that stereotype was shattered. I hope to book a spot at the Catbird Seat for my next trip down. I've seen some great reviews online and the New York Times did a piece on it as well.

Next time your in town, you need to also check out Lockeland Table. It's right down the road (on Woodland Ave) from Cafe Margot. It just recieved a James Beard nomination for best new Restaurant in the Country. Haven't been yet, but have heard very great things.
