I just dont believe there is any way this is correct. Anyone that has been to Nashville and other places in the country that are on this list care to let me know it these numbers seem at all accurate?

It's just another ranking system. Look around online and you're bound to find vastly different methods and criteria for ranking crime in cities.

What exactly do you find not believable about them, though?

Just looking at the areas around where I live, it just does not seem like it could possibly be correct.

Ok. If I don't know why you don't think it is correct, I can't really help you. I don't know where you live.

Does Nashville seem too high or too low to you?
I can only speak to Memphis, and that figure seems about right.

I was just wondering what other people had to say about the areas they live. Ive never been to nashville but Im moving there. Right now Im in San Diego and Nashville is significantly higher. So when I looked at the areas surrounding San Diego they seemed off, so now Im wondering If Nashville seems accurate to the people living there.

Crime rate is something Ive never really understood how to get an accurate reading on, because you can take all of the reported crimes and put them on a chart and call it a day. But there are other factors. Such as if the law enforcement is good in the area. Or if all crimes are being reported. If you live in an area where people are getting murdered all the time are you going to waste time if you see someone smoking weed to call the police? But if you live in a small town where nothing bad ever happens you will be more likely to. Has anyone lived in both Nashville and San Diego that can tell me where they feel safer?

Nashville does have a violent crime problem, but primarily in certain areas of the city. There are plenty of areas in both the suburbs and the city which are perfectly safe.

So my question would be, which area of town are you moving to or looking at moving to?

SpotCrime Crime Map
You can play around with this. Keep in mind though that I have heard that Memphis reports each crime as a separate incident. So an armed robbery that invovles B &E would count there as two crimes, not just one. I don't know if Nashville does that or not.
