This whole situation just makes you shake your head. I mean...what are they going to do, make them tear it down because there wasn't proper public notice?

I realize the thing will probably get built in the end...but this stoppage is pointless IMO.

It is beyond ridiculous that a newspaper with a circulation of 45K wasn't enough notice. I hope that Murfreesboro appeals the decision and the appeals court finds in favor of the mosque/county. This sets a bad legal precedent

I'll be so glad when this ordeal is over.

Same here. This being back in the national news is not a good look for our metro. I really hope this matter can get resolved swiftly and amicably without it dragging out much longer.

We were already so proud to be Middle TN. The place where that woman returned her adopted son like an unflattering dress, the birthplace of the KKK, the source of legislation allowing guns in bars and discouraging handholding (you know, the gateway to fornication). Now we get to be Mosque-Blockers! For a place with so much good, we sure delight the media with our more fascinating residents, don't we?

IIRC, since the mosque was approved, three Christian churches have been approved by the Planning Commission using the same public notice procedures -- and no one has filed suit against the Commission for any of those.

I was born and grew up in Tennessee. I love this state. I remember sensible people here.

I don't recognize it anymore.

Since I moved I haven't really checked up on this forum much. Sad to see that my hometown is becoming more extreme instead of less. I had naively thought maybe this controversy would die down and people would move on, but from the sound of it things have only gotten worse. It makes me not even want to come back for a visit, let alone ever considering moving back.

I don't think it's becoming more extreme by any means.

And the controversy did die down. I hadn't really heard anything about it until this court ruling. So I can't see how "things are getting worse."

I can see how from a distance that you could come to that conclusion...but I don't think you would see things the same way if you were still here.

But if you feel it necessary to never come back, that is your decision.
