Hello, my husband is going to be working in Portland TN and we are looking in the Hendersonville area for homes since i've read so many great things about it. But what i'm actually wondering is....should i also consider Portland and Gallatin as well? I noticed the homes are sooo cheap in those areas especially for the amount of land that comes with them. Are they not good areas? I have 3 kids to consider when looking at areas as well but i was just curious about those towns...being from out of state it's hard to research an area on just your computer. Please help if you can! Thanks!!

You are just jaded by the postage sized lots of the planned communities in Illinois. We moved here from suburban Chicago as well and were amazed at the size of house and land you could get for the money. Hendersonville is a great place to raise a family.

The excellence and reputation of the Hendersonville schools is unmatched elsewhere in the county. Station Camp in Gallatin is also a good high school zone but I wouldn't recommend Gallatin High School or Portland High School. It is worth mentioning that the county does have a magnet school with open enrollment (k-12) which is located in Hendersonville.

I would recommend looking at homes in the Beech or Station Camp high school zones. Both of those zones are on the northern side of Hendersonville and offer good access to either I65 or Hwy109 for a Portland commute.

I moved here from the Rockford/Northern Illinois area. I would recommend Hendersonville.

Thank you for the replies. This will give me something to go on. Does anyone recommend a realtor that you know is good with relocations?
