Sounds just like Opryland.

Opryland was the first theme park I can ever remember visiting. We must have went a couple times in the late 70s. For a kid, there was no better place in the world. I'm sure it wouldn't hold a candle to Disney or even 6 flags, but non the less, I have fond memories!

Very interesting development today...Gaylord and Dolly Parton are announcing a new water/winter park near where Opryland used to be. I shall reserve judgement until I see it being built...

Default Dollywood coming to Nashville...

according to Tennessean. Dolly Parton and Gaylord are planning on building a new amusement park near Opryland Hotel.

I believe this has more potential than last spring's proposal for Spring Hill

I just came here to announce the same thing. If Dolly is involved it is a good thing.

I believe my desire to grow wings and fly has more potential than the Spring Hill proposal.

Here's the article. I think its very interesting...and promising. It will be a year-round facility, which was a major problem for Opryland. It will be competing in the summer with Nashville Shores, which has more room for expansion. I know tourists generally don't visit Nashville Shores as they would at DollyOpryWaterLand or whatever it will be called...but they will probably have some overlap. It will be interesting to see if the Gaylord venture drives out Nashville Shores. I would almost guarantee it will kill the nearby Wave Country.

Thanks DC...I like the snow idea in the winter months...It looks like it would be a great year round facility.
I was curious what the local take on it would be..but hopefully positive..

The more I read about it, the more positive I feel. While it is basically the same size as Opryland was (as I recall...about 170-200 acres), unlike Opryland, the new water/winter park will have room to expand. There's no river to worry about...only farmland to buy (at inflated prices, but better than nothing). And it's year-round...which was the rub at Opryland. While it won't have the draw of a roller coaster park, having it year round will be a big draw and it will compliment the Hotels awesome Christmas display very nicely as well.

Smart job on all parts I think.
