My fiance and I are considering moving down south near Nashville...we'd like to be within an hour (or so) of the city, but we are looking for small towns. We love the country, and my fiance is big into fishing and riding his Harley

We are not familiar with the area at all, and will not be moving until next October. Trying to get ideas of nice smaller towns, within driving distance to restaurants, mall, etc.

Any suggestions would be helpfull!

Goodlettsville itself is a nice small town. It has a very quaint downtown of antique shops and country restaurants. The city has 2 separate areas, the southwestern part is Rivergate Mall and almost feels like part of the city of Nashville. The northeastern part in Sumner County is very suburban and a bit more upscale. The northern most part near Millersville and Robertson County is very rural, hilly, even isolated in some parts.

Other towns to consider: Greenbrier & Ridgetop in Robertson county
White House, Portland, and Millersville in Sumner County All of these have most of the necessities in town are within a fairly short drive to major shopping areas like Hendersonville, Gallatin, and Rivergate/Goodlettsville.
Portland is about half way between Nashville and Bowling Green KY - good for taking advantage of KY's lower sales tax.
