I am planning to go to the fair in Nashville this year and just wanted to see if anyone has been there in years past and how is it compared to other fairs? Is it worth going to? I would be making a day trip from Chattanooga. Thank you.

I am really sorry to say it was a HUGE disappointment to me last year. There were a lot of corn dogs, a few little rides, a building with some chickens in it. A 'trade fair' with people selling all sorts of either home made things or "as seen on TV" things and that's about it. We left in under an hour. Can't imagine driving all the way from Chattanooga to see it.

But maybe I hit it on a bad day . . . . .

To be honest, the State Fair here isn't all that big of a deal. You would probably have more luck at one of the county fairs...a lot of people seem to really like the Wilson County Fair...but I believe it ends today.

A trip from Chattanooga isn't that far, of course...but you might consider making alternate plans if you don't find the fair to your liking.

I went to the Wilson County fair twice this week. Lots of fun. Much better than any state or regional fair I've ever been to in any state. I'm a fair-a-holic.

Yes, the Wilson County Fair is huge. They set a new attendance record this year, something like 545,000 over the nine-day run. The missus and I are thinking next year we'll get a babysitter and try it out without the kids.

I went to the Wilson County Fair yesterday. What a great time my wife and I had. We left at 9pm and the line coming in was over 3 miles long. I plan on going next year.

It is still the state's largest agricultural event and gives away more premiums for livestock and things like photography than any other fair in the state...it's in transition they say and from what I can tell, it's something worth supporting and saving...they've had a hard time getting it out of the hands of the city government and into the hands of people that want to build it into a TRUE state fair. I will support them all I can and look forward to getting this fair in the hands of the right people...

The Tennessee State Fair is 100% ghetto. Hood rat central. It made me pro-choice after attending.

There are better fairs in surrounding counties.

Thank you for all the responses. I think I still might see it. If it's not great at least there's a ton of other fun stuff to do in Nashville. I went to the Big E fair in Massachusetts last year and since then I have really been looking forward to any upcoming fairs. I know it won't be nearly as big but I'm sure I will enjoy it. Thanks for the help.
